Creatives Tuesdays: DIY Sea Glass Candy

Hello sweeties! How's your week so far? Its great to have DIY Creatives team back for the week! And oh boy we got so much more new* DIYs & crafts coming up for the next few weeks! Thank you readers for always giving us heads up on new fresh ideas! And this week, we got a reader requesting on how to DIY rock candies -- and here's special post just for you!
We all know if you gonna have a Big wedding with guests more than 500; you're gona be going about on looking for what's best, easy, affordable & and fun wedding favors that can make your wedding one memorable day to remember! After all, favors are can be in any form; momentos or yet in sweet treats!  So, we come up with making your own sea glass candy! Imagine this, you can make any flavor you want - be it raspberry, rootbeer, cola, apple or invent your own flavor with your mr fiance as your signature candy? Sound awesome right? Plus, they dont expire that easy! All you do, have the candies inside a pretty tin, tie with a ribbon – and you have a wonderful thank-you treat for your wedding guests!

So, making these candies arent that difficult as we thought/seen in the candy shops. All you need is a bit of patience in the candy-making. Haha. who knows, you might make it as your frequent tidbits in the house!

DIY Wedding Favors: Sea Glass Candy Recipe

 What you need:

  • Stove
  • Candy thermometer
  • Basting brush
  • favor tin
  • ribbon
  • wedding label 


  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 – 1 tsp. flavoring oil ( Using raspberry and rootbeer flavors, but you can use any flavor you want!)
  • Icing sugar (to coat cooled candy)

Step One
Grease a cookie sheet or cake pan with butter.

Step Two
Measure ingredients.

Step Three
Pour granulated sugar, corn syrup and water in a medium saucepan. Place over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves.

Step Four
Without stirring, boil the mixture until a candy thermometer reads between 300 and 310 degrees. (This will take about 30 minutes.) Drop a small amount into ice water. If it separates into brittle strands its ready.

Step Five
Remove from heat and let boiling subside.

Step Six
Measure flavoring oil and pour into candy mixture. Also add food coloring if desired. Blend with a wooden spoon. (You’ll notice that it will get really steamy for a few seconds.)

Step Seven
Pour onto greased cookie sheet or cake pan. Let cool. (I put mine in the fridge)

Step Eight
Cover hardened candy with parchment paper and tap with a mallet to shatter candy into small pieces.

Step Nine
Use a basting brush and coat candy pieces with icing sugar.

Step Ten
Place into favor tins. (Inside lined with a cupcake liner.) Tie with ribbon and adhere labels. Voila! You have your own custom-made favor candy!diy wedding favor (Thank you Intimate Weddings!)
